Ultimate Suppression
Unlike the other phases in this fight, you can push Ultima into Ultimate Suppression early- Ultimate Suppression will start when Ultima Weapon goes under 50% HP.
Note that you must have a Tank LB3 when Ultimate Suppression ends- if you haven’t built enough LB by this time, you may want to consider holding DPS to buy more time.
Pre-Suppression
The important part of this phase, especially if DPS has been low is to shield the Vulcan Bursts to prevent them from knocking players out of the arena.
1. Ultima reappears in the center of the arena, while an Eye of the Storm momentarily shrinks the area. Note the Searing Wind has one more pulse left!
2. Ultima Weapon then turns to face the player who's second in hate (which should be the ST) and targets them for Homing Lasers.
| |
3. Eye of the Storm shrinks the arena again. Stand near the border and prepare to move out.
4. Radiant Plumes then appear towards the middle of the arena. (Most groups will have pushed Ultima Weapon to 49% by this stage.)
5. Ultima does an instant-cast frontal cleave tankbuster called Diffusion Ray, targeting the MT.
| |
6. Ultima does a Vulcan Burst, knocking back anyone that takes damage while another Eye of the Storm blocks the outside of the arena.
| |
7. This is then followed by another Homing Lasers, targeting the second player in hate (the ST).
| |
8. Ultima repeats the Eye of the Storm + Vulcan Burst combination. At this point, Ultima Weapon will then begin Ultimate Suppression. |
Ultimate Suppression
This phase is pushed when Ultima Weapon’s HP drops below 50%.
9. Take up your starting positions for Ultimate Suppression.
| |
10. Of the six non-tank players:
Make sure the party is spread out enough that players can clearly identify which role they are.
11. Move to your position based on what you got:
| |
12. A large cone AoE originating from Garuda appears, while the two sisters fire Mistral Songs at the two players with the green markers. These are blocked by the two tanks respectively.
13. The two sisters will jump (dodge Feather Rains).
| |
14. Garuda will jump (dodge a second set of Feather Rains). This happens very quickly after the sisters' jump, so you can actually bait the Feather Rains inside the large AoEs left behind by the Mistral Song. Destroy the Granite Gaol. It is worth saving burst damage for this, as not only will players have less uptime from dodging the Feather Rains, etc, but there is an additional player removed (the Light Pillar).
15. The Light Pillar AoE will appear and chase its target. All players stack together a little east of the center.
16. Titan then targets the party with Landslide, Garuda tethers to a random player, and Ifrit targets another player (not the MT) with Flaming Crush.
| |
17. Dodge back into Titan's first Landslide and split Ifrit's Flaming Crush.
18. Garuda jumps (dodge Feather Rains) and Ultima finishes casting Tank Purge. Again, because there is also a Mesohigh tether AoE going off at this time, this is a lot of damage. The feathers will also explode in a point-blank Featherlance AoE, so the MT will also want to stay away from the edge. |
Frequently Asked Questions
[Featherlance] What causes the feathers to converge in on the party?
This is actually a Woken Garuda mechanic that you can see in P1 if you cleanse three sets of Thermal Low stacks using the Spiny Plume's bubble instead of two. The feathers will all home in on party members, killing them- the way to prevent this is to knock them out of the air by cleansing and triggering a Super Cyclone by taking Garuda's tether with a stack of Thermal Low. At this point, there should only be two people that can do this- either the MT, or the healer that did not get Searing Wind earlier during Ultimate Annihilation. |
